Event 21: High Roller

Huynh Ngoc Cuong (Vietnam) is your High Roller champion (₫2,172,700,000)

Posted by Life of Poker

NZO01063.jpg The Final Day of the High Roller tournament finally came to a close with 14 money winners out of 136 entries awarded a prize pool of ₫7,915,200,000 (~$335,318)

ENZ_8368.jpg Huynh Ngoc “Tommy” Cuong from Vietnam had a surprising run, starting the day with less than 1 million chips and working his way to a staggering chip stack size by final table and ending the heads-up match in less than three hands.

The Queen’s Gambit

Earlier in the levels, he rivered a queen on his Q♥ J♥ that doubled him up against Maksim Skripkin’s pocket eight. Eventually, Cuong’s queen would eliminate the Russian pro in another over cards vs pair coinflip when he had K♠ Q♥ against Skripkin’s pocket sevens.

The 6th place finisher, Ngo Van Dat was also eliminated by Cuong with his Q♣ T♣ forming a straight on the river.

Cuong continued his rampage by eliminating La Van Dien with K♥ Q♠, and the queen kicker was enough to eliminate his fellow Vietnamese from the field.

The only non-queen elimination was when he invited Remi Florent on his small blind to go all-in with his 9♣ 4♦ against Florent’s A♥ 5♥, hitting a pair of nines on the flop.

Finally, during the heads-up, his Q♥ 7♣ took down Biles’ K♦ K♥ with two pairs on the flop. NZO01162.jpg
