Japan's Tetsuya Tsujisaka Day 1 Chip Leader
A thrilling day played out at the APT Zodiac Classic, sponsored by Natural8. The event drew 373 entries (273 unique) to generate a massive KRW 1,192,406,400 (~USD 889,855) prize pool, more than doubling the KRW 500,000,000 guarantee.
Of the total field, 65 players will return tomorrow for the final day, with only 55 players making the money. But the ultimate goal for tomorrow will be the top prize of KRW 228,656,400 (~USD 170,640).
Closest to that goal is Japan’s Tetsuya Tsujisaka, who bagged 806,000 at the end of the day. The Japanese player has enjoyed a strong run on the APT this year, putting together several deep runs and capturing the APT High Roller Ultra Stack in Taipei in April.
That victory earned him his first APT Lion and the biggest cash of his career. He will now look to build on that success by taking down the Zodiac Classic.
Chun Kit Kwan
Following Tsujisaka in the chip lead is Hong Kong’s Chun Kit Kwan, who bagged 562,000. Kwan already knows what it takes to win this event, having taken down the same tournament in Taipei in May 2025.
With a healthy stack heading into the final day, he is well positioned to make another run at the title.
Coming in third is Lee Wee Liew with 555,000. The reigning Korean National Cup Champion will be looking to carry his winning momentum into the final day and add another title to his collection before heading home to Malaysia.
Day 2 Top Ten Chip Counts
Nevan Chang made it through to the final day with 178,000. Chang chipped away at his opponents’ stacks over the final two levels to secure a solid stack for tomorrow.
Fabian Gumz took a big hit when Su Jing rivered a flush against his top pair. Despite the setback, Gumz managed to recover and will return with 146,000.
Other notables advancing to the final day include Ryuta Nakai (293,000), Tony Lin (134,000), and Renji Mao (129,000).
Kunal Patni
Not everyone was as fortunate, however.
Kunal Patni was eliminated late in the day, but he was already in a celebratory mood. While still in the tournament, Patni had started enjoying a few drinks, with the Player’s Party next on his agenda.
Among those who failed to advance to the final day were Rene von Reden, Abraham Ceesvin, Georgios Skarparis, Daisuke Ogita, Tom Verbruggen, and Stephen Pang.
The final day begins tomorrow, October 2 at 11:15 a.m. (KST) at A Les Casino. Players will battle through 40-minute levels until a champion is crowned.
The stage is set for one final showdown. Who will rise above the field and claim the Zodiac Classic title? Tune in tomorrow as the remaining contenders battle it out for the APT Lion.
