Zi Han Lin
Flight B of the TWD 55,000 APT Main Event during the APT Taipei 2026 Series has just wrapped up inside the Red Space Events Centre. After ten levels, just 147 players out of 371 entries managed to secure their seats for Day 2A of this prestigious event, which carries a TWD 70,000,000 guaranteed prize pool. They will join the 199 players who bagged chips during Flight A which took place on Sunday the 26th of April.
With half of the opening flights now complete, the total number of entries into the Main Event so far stands at 1,395 (including those who entered online). This year’s Main Event is already on pace to set new APT records.
Ending the night atop the chip counts is Taiwan's Zi Han Lin, who bagged 352,500 chips to claim the lead. APT spoke to Lin when he was bagging his chips and congratulated him on his impressive run so far in the main event. Lin responded "It's just a start" and expressed his thoughts for Day 2 and continued to say "Day 2 is when things really start".
Lin neared the top of the counts later into the flight with about an hour left of play, but kept up momentum and piled on the pressure right down to the last few hands in the day.
Hyundong Lee
Hot on their heels is India's Ajit Neel with 323,300 chips, followed closely by Hyundong Lee of South Korea, who bagged 281,700. Both players have positioned themselves well for a deep run going into Day 2 of this landmark tournament. Neel quietly snuck up the ranks to reach second. He was spotted loosing a few chips earlier in the day, and sat with a just over average stack, less than two hours before the end of the day.
Flight B Top Ten Chip Counts
Previous two-time Main Event champion Mike Takayama (150,400) took his seat today, aiming for a third trophy. He enters Day 2A riding the momentum of his Super High Roller (SHR) title captured yesterday. Joining him on the felt was fellow former APT SHR champion Phanlert Sukonthachartnant (195,300), and both secured their spots to fight another day. Defending champion Akira Takasugi also made an appearance, steadily building throughout the day to lock in a sizeable 213,500 stack heading into Day 2A.
Hugues Girard
Other notable names advancing include Sofia Lovgren (65,500), Yita Choong (180,900) and Hugues Girard (207,000). Lovgren has seen previous success at 2025 APT Taipei series after taking down the 667 player field to claim the Mystery Bounty Championship last year. Lovgren had a steady Day 1 here in Flight B and maintained an average stack throughout most of the day.
Girard took through a healthy stack, helped by securing a late night the double up, in one of the final levels of the day.
Kunwoo Kim
Kunwoo Kim also secured a bag on their first bullet and will return with 139,200 chips. A late night triple up through Yunghan Chien, helped them lock up a bag for Day 2 of the main event.
Tomorrow the final two flights of the Main Event kick off, with Flight C starting at 11:00 AM and Flight D at 6:00 PM. Both feature a slightly different structure, with six turbo 30-minute levels followed by four 45-minute levels. These will be the last opportunities for players to build a stack before Day 2, which begins on Wednesday, April 29 at 11:15 AM. Late registration remains open until the start of Day 2, giving players one final chance to join the chase.
