TAIPEI, TAIWAN, May 3, 2025 – The APT Taipei 2025 is closing out the action in style, with the penultimate day of the ten-day series seeing the the record-breaking Main Event playing down to a scintillating finish.

In addition to the Main course, the last of the festivals signature trophy events—the APT High Roller—served up a healthy helping of rich record-breaking dessert action, with the tour’s largest and richest ever Mini Main Event adding a bit of digestif spice to finish things off for the evening.

Those with more expensive taste should take heed of the maître d's recommendation and check out the action in the TWD 110,000 (~USD 3,600) APT High Roller, with the third and final of the festival’s signature dishes proving to be yet another record-breaker.

The tournament action got underway at 11:15am local time (GMT+8) with the event attracting the largest APT High Roller field in tour history, beating the previous record of 302 set back during the APT Taipei 2023.

The action played out over seventeen 40-minute levels, and by the time registration shut up shop at 8:35pm the field had ballooned to a hefty 415 entries (278 unique) who were competing for the richest-ever APT High Roller prize pool with a massive TWD 39,091,600 (~USD 1,277,500) in the purse, making it the third richest tournament of the festival behind the record-breaking Main Event, and record-breaking Zodiac Classic – Sponsored by Natural8.

The eventual champion will walk away with the largest first-place prize the event has ever awarded, banking a staggering TWD 7,586,600 (~USD 247,930), plus an Asian Poker Tour Championship (APTC) Main Event seat worth an additional TWD 350,000 (~USD 10,700).

It was local player Tseng Yi Chieh who summited the Day 1 chip counts, seeing off challenges from some of the games top high stakes tournament professionals to bag up a chip leading stack of 1,465,000. Chieh will be hoping to be the David to some of the high rolling Goliath’s in the field when action resumes for the Final Day.

Hong Kong’s Jason Chau is hot on Chieh’s heels, concluding play with a stack of 1,267,000, with the USA’s Kaifan Wang rounding out the top three with 1,024,000 in chips.

The top trio were the only three players to crack the seven-figure chip barrier, with South Korea’s Kiyoung Kim (943,000) the next closest competitor.

Singapore’s Jereld Sam, winner of the Hanoi Billions Mystery Bounty Hunter, managed to bag a top ten stack, as did Manila Classic Main Event champion Daniel Lee of the USA, with 85 players making it through in total and the top ten stacks as follows:

Taiwan’s Hung Te Lee Wins Record-Breaking Mini Main Event for TWD 6.5M (~USD 201K)

If the Main Event and the APT High Roller didn’t sate your appetite for poker action, then the Final Day of the tour’s largest and richest Mini Main Event should offer some succour.

Just 248 players out of a record-breaking 1,760 entries returned to action for the Final Day of the TWD 25,000 (~USD 820) Mini Main Event, all guaranteed a TWD 39,500 (~USD 1,220) slice of the TWD 37,666,000 (~USD 1,162,530) prize pool – the richest this tournament has ever generated.

It was Taiwan’s Hung Te Lee who claimed the lion’s share, defeating Japan’s Ryosuke Ikari after a lightning-fast one-handed heads-up confrontation that saw all the chips go in pre-flop with pocket jacks and pocket threes respectively.

Lee’s hooks snagged him a career-best TWD 6,515,000 (~USD 201,080) top prize, tripling his lifetime live tournament cashes and awarding him his maiden APT title in one fell swoop. Lee also claimed a TWD 350,000 APTC Main Event seat for his victory to further sweeten the pot.

While Ikari will have been disappointed to come so close to the title only to fall at the final hurdle, the Japanese player will not be disappointed with the TWD 3,646,500 (~USD 112,545) on offer for second as it represents the largest score of his poker career to date.

South Korea’s Jaemoon Seok was another to make a career high score, banking TWD 2,550,000 (~USD 78,700) for his third-place finish, with the final table paying out as follows:

Double Stack Draws 930 Runners with TWD 15.6M (~USD 510K) Prize Pool

While the TWD 20,000 (~USD 650) Double Stack did not set any records this time around, the tournament did draw its third-largest all-time field, with an impressive 930 entries (579 unique) competing over the three scheduled starting flights.

This generated a TWD 15,624,000 (~USD 510,590) prize pool, making it the tenth tournament of the festival to award over half a million USD in tournament cashes.

The eventual winner will take home the richest top prize the tournament has ever awarded—a sizable TWD 2,843,000 (~USD 92,900)—in addition to an APTC Main Event ticket.

The opening Flight A 326 entries (282 unique) duke it out over twenty-two 20-minute levels with Taiwan’s Po Chieh Chang topping the Flight to bring a tournament leading stack of 1,558,000 into the Final Day and a total of 46 players making the cut.

Flight B drew a further 383 entries (322 unique) with the action playing out over twenty-three 20-minute levels and 54 survivors finding a chip bag at the end of the evenings play. It was the Philippines’ Jeorge Lagatuz topping the flight to return third in the over chip counts with a stack of 1,267,000.

The third and final Flight C saw 221 entries (190 unique) compete over twenty-two 15-minute levels, with 31 of them making it through, led by Japan’s Mizuki Kurokawa who will return ninth in the overall pecking order, with the top ten stacks coming into the Final Day as follows:

Player of the Series

Those looking for more excitement need look no further than the thrilling Player of the Series (POTS) promotion, which also concludes on the final day of the festival and offers the winner a sponsored seat to the APT Championship (APTC) 2025 Main Event in November.

Aided by his career-best score in the record-breaking Main Event, it is Japan’s Akira Takasugi who has surged into the top spot with three festival cashes, with Mystery Bounty Hunter champion Jung Sangjun of South Korea currently siting in second on the leaderboard.
