TAIPEI, TAIWAN, MAY 2, 2025– Local favourite Chih Wei Fan captured his third APT title in spectacular fashion, taking down Event #96: Baby Superstar Challenge after a grueling final table that lasted till level 32.

The Taiwanese pro, known for his deep runs in two APT Main Events and a prior victory in the Superstar Challenge at APT Taipei Poker Classic 2024, Fan added another trophy to his cabinet—this time from a field of 184 entries, collecting TWD 5,358,340 (~USD 165,382) in the process.

Fan, who has over USD 1 million in live earnings, pulled off a dramatic end to the tournament during heads-up play against Singaporean Steve Pei Yao Ng. Holding A9 offsuit against Ng’s K8 offsuit, the flop of 5♥ 7♠ 8♠ gave Ng top pair. The 7♦ turn changed nothing, but an ace of diamonds on the river sealed the win for Fan.

Ng, who during the course of the final table came back from half a big blind, will curse his river luck but happy to collect his runner-up prize of TWD 3,639,000 (~USD 112,347), while Andres Vasquez of Colombia rounded out the podium with a strong third-place showing worth TWD 2,400,000 (~USD 74,074).
