Flight A of the APT Taipei 2026 Main Event is a wrap.

The opening flight of the TWD 55,000 Main Event drew a massive 514 entries (359 unique), packing into Red Space, Taipei, and battling it out at the tables over ten 60-minute levels.

This huge turnout makes Flight A the second-largest Main Event starting flight in APT tour history.

With 510 OnLive entries having already competed on Natural8 , this brings the Main Event field up to 1,024 entries in total, with three live starting flights left to play out over the next two days. 72 survivors from the OnLive events will be joining Day 3 when all remaining survivors will be in the money.

Late registration remains open for the first level on the two respective Day 2 flights, so the field is expected to grow further even after the Day 1 flights are in the books.

After nearly twelve hours of play at the tables 199 players were left standing to bag up their chips to take through to Day 2A on April 29.

It was South Korea’s Sung Jin Yun who closed out the flight with the chip lead, bagging an impressive 365,100 chips. Close behind Yun was Singapore’s Shun Gui Toh with 360,200 chips and rounding out the podium in third spot was Yun’s compatriot Manwoo Park with 348,300 chips.

Park Sent Packing

Junneyoung Park opened from under the gun and Yi Chun Yu moved all in from the small blind. The pair had pretty even stacks, with Park covering by only 1,400. Park called, and the pair flipped their hands.

Junneyoung Park: K Q

Yi Chun Yu: J T

Park was ahead, and Yu needed to improve to stay alive. Yu's luck was in as he flopped the straight on the Q 9 8 board.

There was no change for Park as the board ran out 9 and 7 .

He was forced all in as he was in the big blind in the next hand and Thanapong Chalokool raised from a middle position and was his only opponent.

Junneyoung Park: J 9

Thanapong Chalokool: A 2

Neither of the players hit on the 4 Q 7 8 9 runout, and it was the end of the road for Park.

Action folded around to Soonmin Kwon on the button who made it 2,800 to play, only for Yu Chien Kung to three-bet all in from the big blind for 24,800. Kwon thought for a while and made the call.

Yu Chien Kung: K Q

Soonmin Kwon: A J

Just the flop that Kung ordered came of 4 6 Q to send him into the lead.

No dramas on the 5 turn nor the 8 river and Kung was pushed the pot for a double up.

The cards were already on their backs with Tsz Hin Chow all in and at risk for his last 21,500 from middle position and covered by Yu Chang Fan in the cutoff.

Tsz Hin Chow: K T

Yu Chang Fan: A K

Chow looked to the board for help and the J 8 4 flop brought in some hope.

The 9 turn gave him an open-ended straight draw, but the 6 river didn't bring it in.

Chow was eliminated from the tournament with less than one level of play left in the day.

Aleksandr Sergeev raised to 2,800 from under the gun and action folded around to APTC 2025 Main Event Champion Nishant Sharma who three-bet all in for 21,200.

Sergeev went into the tank for a short while stating, 'I feel that I will call', before flipping in one chip to signify the call.

Nishant Sharma: A Q

Aleksandr Sergeev: Q T

Not the flop Sharma was hoping for of A T T but he still had outs for the redraw to stay alive.

The J on the turn wasn't one of them nor was the 6 river and Sharma was sent to the rail.

Chi Hang Chang open jammed from an early position for his remaining 13,000 and action folded around the table to ChengNan Tseng who asked for a count, before making the call.

Chang went to get up from his seat after seeing Tseng was ahead and reading the 7 6 2 flop, but sat more comfortably after seeing the T turn.

A 9 kept Chang ahead, and he was saved from a late night elimination, sitting back with a more comfortable stack.

No troubles for Taveekitvatee on the 9 4 7 flop, and when the A peeled off on the turn she just had to avoid an eight for a double up. No miracle for Chun on the 2 river and Taveekitvatee was shipped the pot for a double up.
