Thailand’s Sananthachat Thanapatpisal Claims Maiden APT Title in Event #40: Women's Event

The first of the festival’s two scheduled Women’s Events, the KRW 600,000 Event #40: Women's Event, drew 51 entries (41 unique), generating a KRW 26,713,800 (~USD 19,350) prize pool.

The action played out over twenty-three 20-minute levels, with Thailand’s Sananthachat Thanapatpisal topping the tournament, defeating China’s Di Lu heads-up to claim the KRW 8,413,800 (~USD 6,060) top prize, earning her maiden live tournament title in the process.

Lu locked up KRW 6,080,000 (~USD 4,380) for her runner-up finish, with Hong Kong’s Carman Tam filling out the last of the podium positions and taking KRW 3,870,000 (~USD 2,790) for third place, with a total of seven players making the money and the tournament paying out as follows:

Hong Kong’s Edward Yam Claims Fourth APT Title in Event #91: Short Deck - Triple Chance

A late addition to the schedule, the KRW 1M Event #91: Short Deck - Triple Chance drew a star-studded field of 52 entries (39 unique), generating a KRW 45,396,000 (~USD 32,890) prize pool.

This action packed event played out over twenty-one 20-minute levels, and with high-caliber players like Natural8 Ambassadors Danny Tang, Punnat Punsri, Phachara Wongwichit, Kannapong Thanarattrakul, and Yu Chung “Nevan” Chang in contention alongside several former APT champions such as Hong Kong’s Dicky Tsang, Malaysia’s Anson Ewe, and the Philippines’ #1 ranked tournament player Marc Rivera, competition for a place in the paying positions was fierce.

It was Hong Kong’s Edward Yam the man to show off his short deck skills to the best effect, his fourth final table appearance of the festival rewarding him with the KRW 14,306,000 (~USD 10,310) winner’s purse and his fourth career APT title after besting compatriot Danny Tang heads-up.

Tang, who was hunting his second title of the series, took KRW 10,330,000 (~USD 7,450) for his runner-up finish with China’ Jie Xu completing the winner’s triumvirate and banking KRW 6,580,000 (~USD 4,740) for third place. Of the aforementioned notables, both Ewe and Rivera claimed a place in the paying positions, with the tournament paying out as follows:

Australia’s Antonio Seremet Scores Maiden APT Title in Event #42: Turbo PL Omaha Hi-Lo - 5 Card (Big O)

The second of the days three scheduled non NLHE tournaments, the KRW 400,000 Event #42: Turbo PL Omaha Hi-Lo - 5 Card (Big O), attracted a field of 44 entries (29 unique) who battled over twenty-one fast-paced 15-minute levels for a share of the KRW 15,194,080 (~USD 10,990) prize pool.

It proved to be third times the charm for Antonio Seremet, with the Australian turning his third final table appearance of the series into a maiden APT title score after squaring off against Canada’s Hyo Joon Ko heads-up and coming out on top.

Seremet had come within a whisker of claiming his first title four days prior, finishing runner-up in the Event #14: Turbo - NL Omaha Hi-Lo - 5 Card (Big O), and would not be denied a second time, scoring KRW 5,164,080 (~USD 3,720) for his victory.

Ko was forced to settle for silver and the KRW 3,570,000 (~USD 2,570) on offer for second, with Japan’s Kaoru Kishimoto rounding out the last of the podium places and taking KRW 2,280,000 (~USD 1,640) for third place. A total of six players made the money, with the tournament paying out as follows:

Japan’s Masayuki Imuta Wins Maiden APT Title in Event #43: Turbo

Outside of Flight B of the Main Event, the KRW 700,000 Event #43: Turbo was the most popular draw of the day, attracting a field of 206 entries (170) unique.

The action played out over twenty-three fast-paced 15-minute levels, with players jockeying for a place in the 27 paying positions in an attempt to claim their share of the KRW 125,886,600 (~USD 90,920) prize pool.

It was Masayuki Imuta who received the accolades, defeating China’s Haitao Luan heads-up to earn his first recorded tournament win outside of his native Japan. Imuta banked a KRW 27,896,600 (~USD 20,100) top prize for his victory, in addition to the claiming the trophy and his maiden APT title.

Luan locked up KRW 18,820,000 (~USD 13,650) for his runner-up finish, with compatriot Yue Xu placing in third for KRW 12,950,000 (~USD 9,330) and the final table paying out as follows:

Hong Kong’s Colin Tsang Mixes It Up in Event #44: Hyper Turbo - NL Single Draw Mix

The last of the day’s three scheduled non NLHE tournaments, KRW 300,000 Event #44: Hyper Turbo - NL Single Draw Mix (A-5, 2-7, High) drew 46 entries (35 unique), generating a KRW 11,779,680 (~USD 8,500) prize pool.

It was Hong Kong’s Colin Tsang who showcased his single draw mix talents, overcoming spirited opposition from a tough final table to claim his maiden APT title and a KRW 3,451,840 top prize after cutting an ICM deal with heads-up opponent Andrew Shanahan, with the duo then battling for 10 percent of the remaining prize pool and the all-important title and trophy.

Shanahan, making his third final table showing of the festival, scored KRW 3,327,840 (~USD 2,400) for his runner-up finish, with China’s Tian Liu rounding out the podium and taking KRW 1,770,000 (~USD 1,275) for third place.

Taiwan’s Yu Tang Wang (4th) and Hong Kong’s Alan Lau (5th) and triple bracelet winner Yan Shing “Anson” Tsang (6th) were the only other players to make the money, with the tournament paying out as follows:

Vietnam’s Phan Tri Takes Third APT Title in Event #45: Super Hyper Turbo - Bomb Pot

A fun take on NLHE where players all commit a big blind to the pot pre-flop with the first action taking place post flop, the KRW 300,000 Event #45: Super Hyper Turbo - Bomb Pot usually results in some explosive action, and this event was no different.

The tournament attracted 80 entries (72 unique) who fought it out at the felt for a KRW 20,486,400 (~USD 14,790) prize pool, with Vietnam’s Phan Tri the man to enjoy the rub of the green.

Tri took on China’s Baiyu Ni heads-up for the trophy and KRW 5,636,400 (~USD 4,065) top prize, with the Vietnamese player scoring his third career APT title for the win.

Ni collected KRW 4,010,000 (~USD 2,890) for his runner-up finish, with compatriot Haoyu Wang rounding out the top three and taking KRW 2,620,000 (~USD 1,890) for third place. A total of 11 players made the money with the tournament paying out as follows:
