Flight C of the TWD 10,000 APT National Cup has come to a close with 35 players making the money and only 14 players from the original 236 entries (189 unique) making it through to Day 2 on Saturday 2nd March. They will join the 24 players who made it through Flight B, and the 29 who made it through Flight A yesterday.

Bagging up the chip lead from today was Taiwan's own Chih Wei Fan, who accumulated a whopping 1,050,000 chips. He made the APT Main Event final table here last year where he finished 7th after an epic blow-up against Thailand's Punnat Punsri.

Going through as the second-biggest stack was Lin Kuan Yu who was just short of the one-million chips mark with 978,000 in chips.

Flight C generated a prize pool of TWD 2,037,388 (~$64,415) and paid out TWD 420,000 (\$13,280) of that, which was awarded to places 15 through 35. Which leaves TWD 1,617,388 (\$51,140) in prize money that will be carried over to the final day.

Katuhisa Watanabe was the short stack on the bubble, in this hand he started under-the-gun and decided this was the time to commit his last 105,000 into the middle. Next to act was Che Lun Liu who made the call, after all the other players folded the cards were revealed.

The flop came A 3 Q giving Watanabe a straight draw to go with his overcards. The turn was the 4 , but the river was the T completing the straight for Watanabe and doubling him up, much to the dismay of all the remaining players.

Cheng Liang Liu shoved all in for about 175,00 from early position. When it folded round to Yuhsiu Chou in the big blind he slowly peeled back his cards before smiling and calling for all of his 100,000 chips.

The flop came Q 6 2 which spelt disaster for Chou, a board-pairing 2 on the turn meant only a rivered king would keep him alive, it wasn't supposed to be though as the 9 came on the river, much to the amusement of Liu who moves closer to Day 2

Slow playing your hand in the late stage of the tournament is never easy, with seven more players left on Day 2.

The action started with Lee Wen Liang raising from the Low Jack of 50,000, and the player from Hong Kong Chim Ngai Yeung Edmond flat called the raise with only 160,000 chips remaining of his stacks.

Action folded around, and we are heads up to the flop of 5 K 5 , Lee decided to check and a quick check back by Yeung.

The 9 came to the turn, Lee fired out a huge size bet of 70,000. Yeung did not go anywhere and put in the call with only 90,000 chips behind.

The river was the A , and a quick shove by Lee put Yeung all in to call but unfortunately got snapped by Yeung because yeung showed the monster hand 9 9 turning the set on the turn.
