Double Bubble Sees 198 Players Reach Paying Positions; China’s Ma Kaihong Tops Day 2
JEJU, SOUTH KOREA, September 30, 2026 – The action peaked on Day 6 of the APT Jeju 2026 festival as registration officially closed in the flagship KRW 2.7M (~USD 1,900) buy-in APT Main Event, with the field swelling to a sizable 1,375 entries (696 unique) from 36 nations.
With the initial KRW 2.2 billion guarantee obliterated during the opening flights, 368 returning survivors joined 203 late entrants on Day 2 at the tournament tables of LES A Casino inside the Jeju Shinhwa World resort. Together, they generated a substantial KRW 3,207,600,000 (~USD 2,393,730) prize pool. This stands as the third-richest APT Main Event in South Korean history and the sixth-richest non-Championship Main Event overall.
A total of 199 spots were initially scheduled to reach the money, but a dramatic double bubble elimination altered the final payouts slightly. Standard min-cashes are set at KRW 4,180,000 (~USD 3,120), with the eventual champion walking away with the award-winning Gold Lion APT Main Event trophy and a handsome KRW 556,340,000 (~USD 415,180) top prize—the second-largest Main Event top prize ever awarded by the tour in South Korea.

Additionally, five USD 10,000 (~KRW 13.4M) seats to November’s USD 5 million guaranteed APT Championship Main Event will be awarded during the tournament; three seats for the top three finishers, with two more awarded via lucky draw on Day 3 and Day 4.
Day 2 action spanned nearly eight 60-minute levels, with play paused on Level 18 with 201 players remaining to proceed hand-for-hand on the money bubble.
China’s Lei Yang was the last player eliminated empty-handed, exiting on the soft bubble in 201st place when his pocket nines ran into the pocket tens of Xue Ying Zhao.
A tense 30-minute bubble period culminated in a double elimination across two tables, securing a payout for the remaining 198 players.
The simultaneous eliminations meant the USA’s Francis Anderson and China’s Shurong Huang chopped the 199th-place min-cash, each receiving KRW 2,090,000 (~USD 1,560) to officially wrap up hand-for-hand play and leave 198 players advancing to Day 3.

China’s Ma Kaihong leads the 198 survivors into Day 3, bagging a towering 1,135,000 stack with which to make his play for the title, top prize and Gold Lion.
Kaihong was the sole player to top the 1M chip mark, holding a 24-big-blind lead over compatriot Jiawei Wan (986,000).
Singapore’s Kim Wah Chiu (981,000) rounded out the top three, with the top ten as follows:

Inaugural APT Championship High Roller winner Toby Joyce of Ireland narrowly missed out on making the top ten, concluding the action with a stack of 646,000.
Former APT Main Event champions advancing include Japan’s Daisuke Ogita (536,000), Germany’s Rene von Reden (160,000), and India’s Abinhav Iyer (80,000) with APT Incheon 2026 Main Event winner Stephen Pang (232,000) qualifying directly for Day 3 OnLive via tour sponsor Natural8.
Other APT Big Three champions to make it through included Vietnam’s Trung Quan Nguyen (343,000), Australia’s Daniel Neilson (202,000), and Stanley Weng (116,000).
Day 3 resumes at 11:15am on Thursday, October 1, with the action either spanning ten 60-minute levels or the tournament concluding for the day when the field is reduced to the final 48 players – whichever comes first.
