Mechanics

It is very important to register on time!

  • Bracket will be drawn at 11:05am.
  • Players registered on time will be randomly drawn into a bracket of heads up matches.
  • If the bracket is not full, "BYE" will be written in place of the opponent for players not matched against anyone.
  • Players not registered (or at the registration desk) by 11:00am will not be included in the initial bracket draw and will randomly fill in the BYE spots of the bracket until either the bracket is full or when registration is closed at Noon. *See below examples for procedure if there are not enough players to complete a bracket of (16, 32, or 64 players) at the start.

Example 1:

  • If 30 players are registered on time, 28 players will have an opponent to start and 2 players will be matched against a BYE spot. Players matched against a BYE spot must wait in the tournament area until either a late-registration opponent sits down or until the bracket is full (in this scenario, bracket will be filled after 2 late registrants enter.) *if a player matched against a BYE spot isn't assigned anopponent by the end of registration (Noon), player will proceeds to next round. Exampler 2:
  • If 20 Players are registered on time, 4 players will have an opponent at the start, 12 players will be matche against a BYE spot (unless paired with opponent as described above.)

Players who are eliminated will have until the close of registration to re-enter and be randomly assigned a new position, replacing a BYE spot, in the bracket and will immediately begin their match.

Gameplay

  • Heads-up matches in each round will be played best 2 of 3 games, except the championship round which will be a best 3 of 5 match.
  • Dealer button will be determined by high card at the start of each match. If Player 1 starts with the button for the first and third sets, Player 2 will start with the button on the second set.
  • Players will start every game with 10,000 in chips (100 points).
  • Point value doubles in each game after 10 hands are played.
  • Chips and hands played will reset after a game/match is complete.

Please see the following website for general rules, hand-rankings, point scoring, and royalties. (Disregard "2-7 OFC" description) https://www.ofcstrategy.com/rules.html

Progressive Fantasyland rules: QQ or better on the top row in a non-fouled hand will result in a subsequent "Fantasyland" for qualifying player(s), according to the value of the hand placed on the Top row in a non-fouled hand:

  • QQ = 14 cards, discarding 1 card
  • KK = 15 cards, discarding 2 cards
  • AA = 16 cards, discarding 3 cards
  • 222+ = 17 cards, discarding 4 cards.
  • Fantasyland repetition happens when player(s) have at least Quads on the bottom row or a Set on the top row.
  • In all cases of Fantasyland repetitions, a total of 14 cards will be dealt, regardless of the number of cards dealt on the initial Fantasyland.
  • Player in Fantasyland can wait until non-fantasy player sets hand.
  • Player in Fantasyland cannot foul hand by missetting bottom two hands.- *if top 3-card hand ranking is greater than both 5-card hands below, player may reset entire hand using only the 13 cards for that hand.

Button moves after every hand, regardless of if a player is in Fantasyland

Once again - it is strongly encouraged that you register on time!
