After a total of 166 (104 unique) entries bumped the prize pool up to VND 11,593.440.00 (~USD 114,797), the remaining 46 players set their sights on going In The Money (ITM) as Day 1 of the Asian Poker Tour (APT) High Roller - 8 Max concludes at the Grand Loyal Poker Club here in Hanoi, Vietnam.

Fedor Dedelov of Russia sits atop the leaderboard heading into the final day of competition wherein the champion receives VND 2,695,460,000 (~USD 114,797).

Dedelov is looking for his first APT cash but has won five titles and has total tournament earnings amounting to USD 162,887. A native of Russia's Kemerovo region, Dedelov brings 1,324,000 in chips into Day 2--more than doubling his closest pursuer.

Phan Minh Duc of Vietnam is a distant second with 671,000 while France's Bertrand "ElkY" Grospellier is a close third with 666,000.

Some notable names that also advanced include a pair of WSOP Bracelet winners in India's Abhinav Iyer and Alex Lindop of the UK as well as Superstar Challenge champion Alan Pham, Korean poker legend Gab Yong Kim and renowned Indian lady pro Kanchan "Chandicoke" Sharma.

46 players will be back later (June 4) at 12:15 PM for Day 2 of the competition.

23 places will be paid and a champion will be crowned.

The tournament clock has been paused and the remaining 46 players will play only seven more hands before officially closing Day 1.

The latest casualties in Level 15 are:

Koichi Aki (JPN), Aditya Agarwal (IND), Zheng Ruifeng (CHN) and Sebastian Mueller (GER/THA).

The survivors of this final level will return tomorrow at 12:15PM for the finale.

As of now, there 50 players remaining.

Zarvan Tumboli

With a stack that was fast evaporating, Malaysia's Sua Shung Er went over the top of the raise from Zarvan Tumboli of India. Tumboli showed 7 7 while Sua had Q 7 .

Then magic happened for Sua as the window card immediately showed the Q followed by the T and 2 .

The turn was the J and the river was the 4 as Sua, who is now a resident of Tainan, Taiwan, still finds a way to stick around.

Ngoc Dai Nguyen

All in preflop action once again had Ngoc Dai Nguyen of Vietnam fighting for his tournament life against Hong Kong's Vincent Li.

When the cards were flipped over, Nguyen was devasted to see that his A Q was dominated by Li's A K .

But the Vietnamese player rejoiced when the flop came A Q 5 . The turn was the 6 and the river sealed the Hong Kong national's fate as the T showed up.

Li went down to 12,000 in chips and eventually got busted out.

Grant Gardner

Grant Gardner (originally from the UK but now residing in Thailand) raised and was greeted by a 3-bet shove from Sebastian Mueller (Originally from Germany but now residing in Thailand). Gardner made the quick call.

Mueller showed K 8 while Gardner turned over A K .

The board ran J 7 3 4 9 as The Englishman doubled up and left the German with barely 200,000 in chips.

William Teoh

Malaysia's William Teoh was able to see the flop against Ashish Munot of India as it went: J 8 T . Teoh shoved and Munot called.

Teoh flipped over K Q for an open-ended straight draw while the Indian tabled K T for mid pair.

The turn gave the Malaysian one of his outs: the 9 . The river was the A .

Munot is down to around 250,000 in chips.

John Perry

Trung Ha Nguyen of Vietnam and Australia's John Perry were involved in a virtual race as Nguyen tabled A K against Perry's T T .

The window card immediately showed the K but it was followed by T and the 7 .

Nguyen was drawing dead on the turn when the 3 came out followed by the 8 .

Nguyen is ousted from the tournament.

Badly needing a double up, Japan's Daiki Shingae shove 5 5 from early position only to be called in the Big Blind by Phan Minh Duc with A A .

The board ran: 8 4 7 K Q and Shingae has been officially eliminated.
