APT High Roller Draws Record-Breaking Field; Taiwan's Tseng Yi Chieh Tops Day 1

After 14 hours of intense poker action, Day 1 of the APT High Roller has come to a close, with Taiwan’s Yi Chieh Tseng emerging as the chip leader.

Bagging 1,465,000 chips, Tseng tops the leaderboard heading into the final day, where players will vie for the prestigious APT Rose Gold Lion Trophy — the last Signature title up for grabs this series.

True to the record-breaking theme of APT Taipei 2025, the High Roller became the third event of the festival to shatter all-time highs.

With 415 total entries (278 unique), it now stands as the largest and richest APT High Roller in tour history, eclipsing the previous benchmarks set at APT Taipei 2023.

The prize pool has soared to TWD 29,512,000 (~USD 964,000), with TWD 7,586,600 (~USD 247,930) awaiting the champion, plus an Asian Poker Tour Championship (APTC) Main Event ticket worth TWD 350,000.

Out of this enormous field, 85 players remain in the hunt for glory. Joining Tseng at the top are Hong Kong's Jason Chau (1,267,000) and the USA's Kaifan Wang (1,024,000) — both crossing the million-chip threshold.

Chau, a former APT champion, will no doubt be gunning for another title, especially with such a narrow margin separating the leaders.

The final day promises fierce competition, with several decorated players still in contention. Stanley Weng, the defending High Roller champion, is still in the mix and aiming for a rare back-to-back title to secure a second Rose Gold Lion. Other APT titleholders returning include Jason Lau (714,000), Julian-Andrew Warhurst (577,000), and Biao Ding (242,000).

Adding to the high-stakes atmosphere are some of the tour’s most respected players, including Christopher Park (767,000), Natural8 Ambassador Kunal Patni (428,000), Yohwan “BoxeR” Lim (253,000), and Alex Lindop (146,000) — making this one of the most stacked final days of the series.

Pitipong Posri kicked off the action with a 22,000 raise from under the gun, met by calls from Christopher Park and Yung Hui Po in the blinds.

All three players checked the 4 9 J flop.

On the 9 turn, Po checked, Posri fired 30,000, and Park raised to 75,000. Po called, but Posri mucked, leaving the two head to head.

On the 6 river, Po launched a 150,000 bet, sending Park deep into the tank. He burned through time banks, weighing his options, before folding with a sigh.

“Nines?” Park asked, glancing at Po.

Hung's Jacks Cracked by Kim's Ace

Wooseok Kim.jpg Wooseok Kim

Wooseok Kim opened under the gun to 20,000 and was met with a three-bet shove from the player to his immediate left, Wan Hung. Action folded back to Kim, who made the call, putting Hung at risk.

Wan Hung: J J

Wooseok Kim: A T

Hung was pleased to see he was ahead with his jacks but still hoped they would hold. Kim watched as the dealer fanned a flop of Q 4 9 , keeping Hung in front.

The turn K gave Kim more outs, and the river A flipped the script—crushing Hung’s dreams of a deeper run and sending the pot Kim’s way.
